Pfadfinder Prompts & Configuration

Pfadfinder's AI analysis can be customized through prompts and configuration settings to match your organization's coding standards and priorities.

Pfadfinder Prompts

Pfadfinder prompts define how the AI approaches coding path analysis. They can be configured to:

  • Focus on specific medical specialties (e.g., cardiology, orthopedics)
  • Prioritize certain types of optimizations (e.g., PCCL improvement, procedure completeness)
  • Follow organization-specific coding policies
  • Include or exclude certain types of recommendations

Managing Prompts

To manage Pfadfinder prompts:

  1. Navigate to your workspace settings.
  2. Open the Pfadfinder configuration section.
  3. Create, edit, or select prompts from the prompt library.

Prompt Structure

A Pfadfinder prompt typically includes:

  • Context — The medical specialty or case type the prompt is designed for.
  • Instructions — Specific rules or priorities for the analysis.
  • Output format — How recommendations should be structured and presented.

Configuration Options

Beyond prompts, Pfadfinder can be configured with:

  • Catalog year — Which ICD-10-GM and OPS catalog version to use for code validation.
  • Grouper version — Which G-DRG system version to use for grouping calculations.
  • Confidence threshold — Minimum confidence level for recommendations to be shown.
  • Maximum suggestions — How many alternative coding paths to generate per analysis.

Organization-Level Settings

Organization administrators can set default Pfadfinder configurations that apply to all workspaces. Individual users can override these defaults in their workspace settings.
