What Is an Organization?

Learn what Organizations are in PropellerDeck — team containers that hold your products, repositories, projects, members, and documentation.

What Is an Organization?

In PropellerDeck, an Organization is the top-level container for your team and everything your team is working on. Think of it as your company or team's home base inside the platform.

What an Organization Contains

Every organization holds the following resources:

  • Products — the software products or projects your team is building
  • Repositories — linked GitHub repositories associated with your products
  • Projects — task boards and planning tools for tracking work
  • Members — the people on your team, each with a defined role
  • Documentation — structured knowledge bases stored in your connected GitHub repos

All of these resources are managed from a single place: the Organization Dashboard, accessible at /orgs/<org_id>/.

One Organization Per User

Each user account in PropellerDeck belongs to one organization at a time. When you first sign up, you either create a new organization or are invited to join an existing one. Your organization determines which products, workspaces, and team members you have access to.

Why Organizations Matter

The organization structure keeps everything in one place. Your teammates see the same products, repositories, and documentation as you do. Roles and permissions are defined at the organization level, so you can control exactly what each team member can access and modify.
