Configuring Your Agent

Learn how to configure your AI agent's system prompt, tools, skills, and knowledge base in PropellerDeck.

Configuring Your Agent

PropellerDeck gives you full control over how your AI agent behaves. You can customize its personality, extend its capabilities with tools and skills, and feed it specialized knowledge — all without leaving your workspace.

Opening Agent Settings

To access agent configuration, click the gear icon (⚙️) at the top of the chat panel. This opens the agent settings drawer where you can manage all configuration options.

What You Can Configure

System Prompt

The system prompt defines your agent's behavior, role, and tone. Use it to give your agent a specific persona or area of expertise. For detailed guidance and example prompts, see System Prompts.

Tools

Tools extend what your agent can do — enabling web search, file operations, code execution, email handling, and more. You can toggle each tool on or off individually in the chat settings panel. For a full list of available tools, see Available Tools.

Skills

Skills are specialized capability packages that load additional instructions and workflows into your agent. Browse and activate skills from the Skill Browser tab. See Skills for more information.

Knowledge Base

Upload documents (PDF, Excel, or plain text files) to give your agent background knowledge specific to your work. Your agent will automatically reference these documents when answering relevant questions.

Model Selection

To change which AI model powers your agent, go to Workspace Settings and look for the model selector. This setting applies globally to the workspace rather than per-session. Learn more in Choosing a Model.

When Do Changes Take Effect?

All configuration changes take effect immediately — your next message will use the updated settings. You do not need to refresh the page or restart a session.
