What Are AI Agents?

Learn what AI agents are in PropellerDeck, how they work, and what they can help you accomplish inside your workspace.

What Are AI Agents?

Every workspace in PropellerDeck comes with a dedicated AI agent called StandardChat. This agent is your primary AI collaborator — it lives in the chat panel on the right side of your workspace and is ready to assist with virtually any task you throw at it.

How Agents Are Powered

PropellerDeck agents are built on top of large language models (LLMs). Depending on your settings, your agent can run on:

  • Claude Sonnet 4.6 — a well-rounded model balancing speed and quality.
  • Claude Opus 4.6 — the highest-capability model, best for complex reasoning.
  • Cerebras ZAI-GLM 4.7 — optimized for fast response times.

You can switch between models at any time in Workspace Settings. See Choosing a Model for a full comparison.

What Can Agents Do?

Your agent can help with a wide range of work, including:

  • Research — summarizing topics, pulling together information from your uploaded documents or the web.
  • Writing — drafting emails, reports, proposals, and other documents.
  • Analysis — working through data, spreadsheets, or business problems.
  • Coding — writing, reviewing, and debugging code across multiple languages.
  • Task management — creating and organizing tasks in your workspace.

Configuring Your Agent

Every aspect of your agent's behavior is configurable. You can give it a custom system prompt to define its role and personality, attach tools that extend what it can do, load specialized skills, and upload documents to build a knowledge base.

To get started with configuration, see Configuring Your Agent. To learn more about the workspace your agent lives in, see What Is a Workspace?.
