File Upload Issues

How to troubleshoot file upload problems in PropellerDeck, including unsupported file types, size limits, connection issues, and browser cache.

File Upload Issues

If you are having trouble uploading files to PropellerDeck, the steps below cover the most common causes and how to fix them.

Check Supported File Types

Not all file types are supported for upload. If your upload is being rejected or silently failing, the file format may not be accepted. Refer to Supported File Types for a full list of allowed formats. If your file is not in a supported format, consider converting it before uploading.

Try a Smaller File Size

Very large files can fail to upload due to size limits or slow connections. If your file is large, try compressing it or splitting it into smaller parts. Check the Supported File Types article for any documented size limits.

Ensure a Stable Internet Connection

Uploads require a consistent internet connection throughout the transfer. If your connection is intermittent or slow, the upload may time out or fail partway through. Try switching to a wired connection or a more reliable network, then attempt the upload again.

Try a Different Upload Method

PropellerDeck supports uploading files in more than one way. If one method is failing, try the other:

  • If you are uploading via the chat attachment button (the paperclip icon in the chat panel), try using the file browser tab instead.
  • If you are in the file browser tab, try attaching the file directly in chat.

Sometimes one pathway resolves an issue that the other encounters.

Clear Your Browser Cache

If you are experiencing persistent upload failures that do not match any of the above causes, stale browser data may be interfering. Clear your browser cache and cookies, then reload PropellerDeck and try again. The steps for clearing cache vary by browser — consult your browser's help documentation if needed.

If the problem continues after trying all of the above, contact support with details about the file type, size, and the error message you are seeing.
