Sync Issues

How to fix cloud sync problems with Dropbox or Google Drive in PropellerDeck, including re-authentication, OAuth errors, and locked files.

Sync Issues

If your Dropbox or Google Drive files are not syncing correctly with PropellerDeck, the steps below will help you identify and resolve the problem.

Re-Authenticate the Connection

The most common cause of sync failures is an expired or broken authentication token. To fix this:

  1. Go to Settings > Workspace Settings (or Integrations).
  2. Find the Dropbox or Google Drive connection.
  3. Click Disconnect to remove the current connection.
  4. Click Connect (or Reconnect) and follow the prompts to re-authorize PropellerDeck with your cloud storage account.

After reconnecting, check whether syncing resumes.

Verify Your Folder Selection

PropellerDeck syncs a specific folder or directory from your cloud storage. If you renamed, moved, or deleted the folder that was originally selected, the sync will fail.

After re-authenticating, verify that the folder selected for sync still exists in your Dropbox or Google Drive account and select a new one if needed.

Check for Expired Credentials

Cloud service credentials can expire independently of the PropellerDeck session — especially if you changed your password on Dropbox or Google, or if your organisation uses managed accounts with access policies. If your credentials have changed, disconnect and reconnect the integration as described above.

Resolving Common OAuth Errors

If you see an OAuth-related error message during reconnection (such as "Access denied" or "Invalid token"), this typically means the authorisation grant has been revoked. Simply re-authorise the connection from scratch: go to Settings > Integrations, disconnect, and reconnect to issue a fresh OAuth token.

Ensure Files Are Not Locked

If specific files are failing to sync but others are not, check whether those files are currently open or locked by another application on your device (for example, a Word or Excel file that is open locally). Close any applications that may have those files open, then try syncing again.
