Segmenter

The Segmenter tab uses AI to analyze clinical text — such as discharge letters, surgical reports, and clinical notes — and extract relevant ICD-10-GM and OPS codes.

How It Works

1. Open the Segmenter tab in your workspace.
2. Paste or upload clinical text into the input area.
3. Click Analyze to start the extraction process.

The Segmenter processes the text and identifies:

• Mentioned diagnoses mapped to ICD-10-GM codes
• Mentioned procedures mapped to OPS codes
• Confidence scores for each identified code
• The text passages that support each code suggestion

Reviewing Results

After analysis, the results panel shows:

• Suggested Diagnoses — ICD codes with confidence levels (high, medium, low).
• Suggested Procedures — OPS codes with confidence levels.
• Source Highlights — The original text is highlighted to show which passages led to each suggestion.

You can:

• Accept or reject individual code suggestions
• Transfer accepted codes directly to the Grouper tab
• Edit suggested codes if a more specific code applies

Best Practices

• Use complete, unabbreviated clinical text for best results.
• Review all suggestions carefully — the Segmenter assists but does not replace expert coding judgment.
• Combine Segmenter results with the Grouper to verify DRG impact of suggested codes.
