What Is FlowDeck?

An introduction to FlowDeck, PropellerDeck's project management interface, including its key concepts, layout, and real-time capabilities.

What Is FlowDeck?

FlowDeck is PropellerDeck's built-in project management interface. It gives your team a structured place to organize work, track progress, and collaborate — all within the same platform as your AI tools and workspaces.

Accessing FlowDeck

You can open FlowDeck in two ways:

  • Click the FlowDeck icon in the left sidebar (it looks like a layered stack).
  • Navigate directly to /flowdeck/<your_org_id> in the URL bar.

FlowDeck is scoped to your organization, so everything you see — projects, tasks, and members — belongs to your current organization.

Key Terminology

FlowDeck uses its own vocabulary to keep things distinct from generic project management tools:

  • Molecules — these are your projects. A molecule is a container that groups related work together. See Molecules — Projects.
  • Atoms — these are your tasks. Each atom lives inside a molecule and represents a discrete unit of work. See Atoms — Tasks.

Layout Overview

The FlowDeck interface is divided into two main areas:

  • Sidebar (left) — lists all your molecules. You can scroll through them, search, and favorite the ones you access most often.
  • Main area (right) — displays the details of the selected molecule or atom, including task lists, descriptions, comments, and status information.

Real-Time Updates

FlowDeck uses a WebSocket connection to keep your view up to date. When a teammate updates a task, changes a status, or posts a comment, you see the change immediately without needing to refresh the page.

To get started, see Molecules — Projects and Atoms — Tasks.
